FAQ

I contacted Two Left Paws regarding an animal; how long before I hear back?

Two Left Paws is an all volunteer organization. While helping these homeless animals is our passion, please understand that we have families, full-time jobs, and other commitments along with our volunteer work. We make every effort to return phone calls and emails within 48 hours.  If you have not heard from us in 48 hours, please contact us again.

I saw an animal on your website/poster/flyer that I am interested in adopting.  What do I do now?

Go to Adopt on our Home Page and from here you will find links to our online adoption applications.

The animal I am intersted in is hundreds of miles away from me. Do you do long distance adoptions?

Our preference is to find our animals homes nearer to our rescue. If we are unable to find a suitable home in the immediate area we will review applications from applicants further away. Please understand that we require a home visit prior to adoption approval and this must be done no matter of distance.  Preference will be given to an applicant in our immediate area.

Will you ship an animal to me?

Two Left Paws will not ship any of our animals. You must meet the animal prior to adoption approval.

I rent  - will you adopt to me?

We require verbal or written permission from your landlord in order to approve an adoption application. We will contact your landlord for permission and inquire about any breed/size/etc restrictions.

prospective pets/family members. It is appreciated if all members of the household be present at the time of the home visit.

Can I and my friend/roommate/girlfriend adopt an animal together?

All residents of the household need to be on the same page regarding adopting.  Only one person will be listed on the adoption contract - unless legally married.

What is a home visit and why is it necessary?

Prior to any adoption being finalized we do require a home visit to be completed. A Two Left Paws representative will schedule a time with you to come to your home, usually with the animal you have applied for.  The representative will be looking to verify the information on your application - number of people in the home, condition of current pets, and compatibility of resident and rlfriend/boyfriend adopt an animal together?

Are the terms of the Adoption Contract negotiable?

No, the adoption contract must be signed as is with no alterations. Our contract is written with the animal’s best interest in mind - this is our main goal. We urge potential adopters to read the contract closely and make sure you are comfortable with contract’s terms and conditions.
