Special Needs
Adopting a special needs pet can be the most rewarding experience you could ever imagine. You give a homeless animal the forever home it needs, knowing that you might be that animal’s last chance. Most people want the perfect pet, with no health problems, and perfect behavior. But reality isn’t usually that kind. Sometimes it is a permanent disability, sometimes a chronic condition that requires special care and cost of medication. The next time you consider adopting a pet, check out the special needs animals, if you are in the position to help.
If you can’t adopt, or make a lifetime commitment to a special needs animal, please consider joining our Guardian Angel program, where you can contribute to help one special needs foster animal of your choice, or contributing to Sammy’s Second Chance fund which helps to provide the medication and extra care needed to improve the quality of life for any of our deserving animals that may need it. Please visit our Donations page for ways to donate to a specific fund.
Please meet some of our Special Needs animals in foster care now:
Marvin - I have allergies and have battled urinary tract infections (UTI)
Mr. Squeakers - I am a senior and diabetic
Mellie - I have chronic congestion. My foster mom calls me her Darth Vader kitty
Amelia - I am approximately 13 years old and may have suffered some brain damage from being hit by a car. I walk funny and my tail is curved like a monkey, which can be an indication of a brain disorder. I may also have lymphoma, as indicated by my blood tests. However, I am a very sweet girl, I always use the litter box, I seek out attention and I love to be petted!
